A Second Life

Happy Friday everyone! It's been a long work week, especially for having Monday off. Last week I forgot to mention that Luke sent me the most beautiful floral arrangement for Valentine's Day. It smelled amazing too! Long after the roses and other blooms died, the orchids still looked like new. I gave them a second chance at life by putting them in these cute glass vases. They're still going strong! Happy weekend!

Flowers

I wanted our bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages to feel earthy and whimsical. The color palette was a mixture of green and white. I worked with Karen and Jorge at Aria Floral Studio in Westmont, IL to bring the vision to life. The end results, as you can see, were amazing! Because my favorite flower, the ranunculus, was not in season in June, we compromised by using a select number of white stems in my bouquet and Luke's boutonniere. Other flowers used included white peonies, green hydrangea, white freesia, green painted billy balls, green hanging amaranthus & green hyperium berries. In retrospect, I'm so happy that Karen talked me into using the freesia because now whenever I smell it I'm reminded of my wedding day. Sounds cheesy, I know, but what a happy association to have with a flower!

All in all I had a great weekend. Other activities, not pictured, included a trip to the beach, 90 minutes of Bikram Yoga, movie night with the hubs, and lobster dinner at Shaw's Crab House. What did you do?

These colors just scream...HAPPY! Who doesn't love pretty shoes and vibrant flowers? These shots came from Butterfly Petals. Amanda is an amazing florist - I've showcased many of her designs on the blog before. She named this bouquet "Mellow Yellow!" Photos by Omari Dickens Photography.

A Day at the Races!

I was lucky enough to spend my Monday afternoon attending a "Derby" themed Women's Fashion Show & Luncheon. That's my Mom and I in our "Derby" hats... isn't it crazy how similar we look when I straighten my hair? We had a blast and enjoyed our Bloody Mary's while most people were at the office. Remind me again why the work week is 5 days long and the weekend only 2? Oh well, I think I'll start wearing a hat more often... why did the woman of the 1930's and 40's get to have all the fun?!

Vintage Winter Bouquet

Another floral beauty from Amanda over at Butterfly Petals. This bouquet was created for a vintage themed winter wedding. I love the pine needles in combination with the feathers! I blogged about Amanda's not so typical bouquets previously. Her work is just amazing! Jump'n Joy

This makes me smile! We had our photographer take the infamous "jump" shot of our bridal party. I love how this sequence turned out. Awww, I wish I could go back in time and relive it all over again!

Recap: Our Youngest Guests (Part 1)

This might be my favorite recap so far! It's all about the cutest, most adorable guests that attended our wedding...the kids! Even though we had an adult-only reception (if you weren't at least in high school, you didn't make the cut), there were two very important exceptions...Caleb (3 years old) and Caleb's younger brother Cameron (1.5 years old). Their mom, Loren, who is my first cousin, was also a bridesmaid. Caleb was our ring bearer, and by far the cutest, most well behaved member of the bridal party. The photos are priceless...
